We are The Junior League of Greenwich

Above all else, our goal is to promote and perpetuate social change in Greenwich. By empowering women and providing valuable leadership training, we are giving local women the tools to get involved, put their talents to work, and positively impact the community of Greenwich.

Strength in Numbers

The Junior League was founded in 1901 by Mary Harriman, a 19-year old New York City debutante. She and 80 other young women sought to improve the living conditions of immigrants on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

As one of hundreds of Junior League chapters across the world, we are a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. (AJLI). Established in 1959, The Junior League of Greenwich plays an integral part in the development, improvement, and support of our community.  The Junior League is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.

The Junior League of Greenwich has played a major role in designing and establishing a wealth of services for the community. While the JLG’s role may no longer be directly visible, many of the services that have touched the lives of Greenwich residents were conceived, initiated and implemented by the League. The JLG administers projects for approximately 2 to 10 years, usually turning them over to an existing agency or organization. Some projects become independent entities
